19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
